Domestic Abuse

Domestic Violence can be threatening behaviour and physical abuse. It also includes non-physical abuse including psychological, financial and emotional abuse.

If you are being subjected to domestic violence, you should seek help and assistance from the police.

You may also wish to obtain advice on other options. These include Occupation and Non-Molestation Orders which give you additional protection.

An Occupation Order deals with the occupation of the family home. It enforces a person’s right to occupy a property or excludes someone from a property and the surrounding area.

A Non-Molestation Order prohibits a person from using or threatening to use violence against another person. This includes intimidating, harassing or pestering them. It can also forbid them instructing or encouraging any of their friends or family from doing so.

In any event, if you ever feel at risk of immediate harm, you should contact the police by dialling 999.

We have a public funding contract. We advise whether you qualify for public funding. Alternatively we can provide full details of our charging rates and give an estimate of what our costs are likely to be in your particular case.
