What are your areas of specialism?
I specialise in Private Client, with a focus presently on Administration of Estates work.
What type of work do you do on a day-to-day basis?
On a day-to-day basis, I meet with Executors and beneficiaries to discuss the deceased’s estate, explain the probate process, and clarify and answer legal questions. I advise clients on their rights, responsibilities, and obligations during the probate process, including advice on Inheritance Tax and the distribution of assets.
I prepare and submit applications for grants of probate or letters of administration to the probate registry. I work with clients to identify, gather, and value assets in an estate. This involves liaising with banks and financial institutions. I arrange settlement of outstanding debts and liabilities and calculate any inheritance due.
Once all the above is done, I prepare detailed estate accounts and arrange payment of inheritance to beneficiaries of the estate to finalise.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Ironically, I enjoy the client facing part the most! Being able to support a bereaved person through a very difficult time is hugely gratifying. I am also known to enjoy drafting IHT 400 and associated schedules.
Surprising Facts?
Now this is hard! There is really nothing surprising about me. I guess as close as I can get is to say that I am half Iraqi and half Welsh, and I live in England.
